Hairy Mclary Scattercat

Hairy Mclary Scattercat is, in my opinoin, one of the best picture books by Lynley Dodd I have ever read. It Starts off with Hairy Mclary all frisky and excited and he feels like he could chase a few cats. So he chases Greywacke Jones... ...and Butterball Brown and Pimpernal Pugh and Slinky Malinki and Mushroom Magee and... no i'm not telling you the next one because that is a suprise. I would recomend this book to any one who can read and I give this book 4/5.

Questions kids ask Joy Cowley

This book is about Joy Cowley. The book was edited by Penny Scown Designed by Tracey Moroney and printed in New Zealand by Wright and Carman. It is all about Joy Cowley from the age of seven months old till the age of sixty years old. I think the writer of this book did very well at getting all the facts about her together. The book was first published in 1996. I enjoyed reading all the interesting facts about Joy Cowley’s family and the fascinating life she led. I also found out that she has written over four hundred kids books most of them are in journal stories. She has also written some chapter books my personal favorite would have to be Bow down Shadrach.

Piano Rock by Gavin Bishop

Ever heard of Gavin Bishop….? If not I would highly recommend the story Piano Rock as your first choice!!!!!!!! This story is about Gavin’s idyllic 1950’s childhood living beside the beautiful Lake Wakatipu. Catching trains, going to school on a horse and even eating mutton every day! Many book reviewers have praised the magnificent illustrations that go along with this book. The also love how he has used two different techniques using black and white but also throwing in some colour aswell. In my opinion the illustrations bring the story to life. I f you want to buy this book it usually sell for about $26.99 so get into any of your good bookseller and get yourself a copy!!!!!!!!  By Alysha

Title: Hairy Maclary from Donaldsons Dairy
Author: Lynley Dodd

Hairy Maclary from Donaldson Dairy is a book about a terrier dog named Hairy Maclary and his friends. Have you ever wondered what would scare a dog...? In this case it is a big, scary, black cat called Scarface Claw the toughest Tom in town. Hairy Maclary and his friends such as Hercules Morse as big as a horse, Bottomley Potts covered in spots, Muffin Mclay like a bundle of hay, Blitzer Maloney all skinny and bony and last but not least Schnitzel Vonn Crum with a very low tum are very scared of Scarface. This book is a very good read and I would recommend this book to boys and girls no matter what the age. I can guarantee that you would enjoy this book. If you enjoy this book you should deffinently read the rest of the books in the series. I would rate this book 4/5.

hairy maclarys showbusiness book review

Hairy Maclary is at it again. He is causing chaos at the annual cat club show. Chasing everyone and everything in his path. I like this book because it is a little bit like me and my dog. it is also very adventurous. If you like getting up to mischief and going crazy then this book is for you. I believe this book is for younger children. By Harry

Slinky Malinki's Christmas Crackers

‘Slinky Malinki’s Christmas Crackers’ is a great picture book by Lynley Dodd. It starts off with a wonderfully decorated Christmas tree with tinsel and bows and everything. But then, things won’t be quite the same as they used to be when that sneaky cat Slinky Malinki comes along... This book would mostly be suitable for an audience of year 1 and up. The thing I like the most about this book is how silly the ending is, but that’s another story (not really but you get the idea). I give this book a 4/5.
